Put Your Plus-Twos On!

February 4, 2008

Introducing the completely optional, have-if-you-want trouser possibility for spring 2008.

Here’s me, modeling my new pair of plus-twos. Apologies of a kind for all the posing that’s been going on round here recently, but what else are you supposed to do when you’ve just had a pair of these made for you? And having made criticisms of others over here, I thought I’d better display my own legwear.

Credit where credit’s due: all the design and tailoring was done at very little cost by one Elizabeth at Labl, via Toronto’s most meticulous vintage store, Cabaret. Needless to say, I endorse all of this with massive enthusiasm!

Now, for the sake of balance, here are some plants that I introduced into my aquarium:

That’s the exact colour I imagined your new pants to be!

Nice trousers! Wear them with your newsboy cap and carry some old books in a strap. What a strapping lad. 🙂

Did Elizabeth make these from scratch or did she alter a pair of pants? They look great. All that’s left for you now is to acquire knee high argyle socks, saddle shoes, a tweed jacket, cap, and pipe, and you’re all set to go!

She started with a normal pair of trousers (also bought at Cabaret) and did the rest. The trick is to start with a slightly over-sized pair, to get that bit of bunching above the knee — but she knows exactly what she’s doing… highly recommended!
